Weather-Step 2: Info

Go to Handouts and print Weather Prep and use it to gather information.

Go to http://www.weather.com/, The Weather Channel homepage, and enter El Paso, Texas, into the search bar at the top and enter.

Record the temperature (+3) on the Weather Prep sheet. Add three degrees to each temperature for the likely difference between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Repeat this process for Amarillo, Brownsville, Austin, Dallas and Houston.

Using the same search bar, look up the current temperatures for Billings, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York City, San Francisco, San Marcos*, Seattle, St. Louis.

*While you’re looking up the San Marcos temperature, record the three-day outlook information (tonight, tomorrow and the next day). Be sure to record the likelihood of precipitation, sky conditions, and wind conditions.

Return to the weather.com homepage. On the tabs across the top, click on the Forecasts tab and then click on the National Forecast. Watch the video clip to find out what the major events are nationwide.

Also, click on the tab for Maps. Scroll down to Classic Weather Maps and click on it. This will bring up a map of the national weather conditions. The Current Surface Map can be used to create your own map using Adobe Photoshop. Print the Current Surface Map and use it as a guide.
